Sunday, April 8th, 2007

Kick scooters are basically a platform with wheels which has handlebars for steering. The rider places one foot on the platform and pushes with the other. More recently manufacturers have come out with motorized scooters that have a small motor and makes the ride more enjoyable.

A motorized kick scooter can be either a gas powered or electric powered scooter. The electric powered scooter can reach speeds up to 25 mph and can go for up to 15 miles on a single charge. This type kick scooter is easier on the environment because it does not produce the harmful fumes associated with gas powered engines.

Kick scooters are often the fastest way to travel if you are only going a short distance. It takes an adult approximately 10 minutes to walk for ½ mile where the kick scooter will cover the same distance in about 3 minutes. If you are accustomed to making short trips several times a week this could be a major time-saver for you.

Kick scooters are easier to ride and operate than a bicycle and they require less effort. Bicycles will probably reach speeds that are faster than a kick scooter but they will require a lot more effort from you.

If you are only going for a mile or so the kick scooter provides a fun and easy way to get there. They are compact and inexpensive and offer the rider a lot of fun. Many of the kick scooter models fold up and can be carried onto public transportation.

There are kick scooters available for the younger kids which run entirely on human power. They are lightweight and easy to use. They feature a rear wheel brake and can be ridden indoors or out. These kick scooters come in a lot of really cool colors which will thrill your youngster.
