Scooters
Sunday, April 8th, 2007By definition a scooter is a vehicle which has two wheels and a step-through frame. The flat floorboard allows the operator to place their feet at a comfortable position. There are many models which are completely hand operated with automatic transmissions and hand operated brakes.
Scooters have been gaining in popularity in the last few years because of the tremendous increase in fuel prices. They are lightweight and can be easily handled by almost anyone. There are many models which are street legal and can reach speeds which are safe to ride in automobile traffic. Scooters which have an engine that is larger than 50cc are generally considered to be motorcycles and require licensing just like the bigger motorcycles.
Scooters usually shield the legs from wind and flying objects. Some come with storage areas which can be used to hold purses, billfolds, and other small items. You can also buy additional storage bags or baskets that will fit on the scooter. This can be handy for somebody who needs to make a quick run to the store for that gallon of milk or that loaf of bread. Many storage accessories will hold quite a bit of merchandise which will allow the operator to save money and enjoy the ride at the same time.
With the increase in scooter popularity many manufacturers are now adding more features which are geared toward comfort. Many of the higher priced models offer windshields, heated hand grips, and an instrument panel which features gauges.
During the recent years
Many scooter owners are now forming rallies which are events that are geared toward the scooter riders. These rallies often feature swap meets, parties, and planned rides which allow everybody to ride together and have a good time. Poker runs are a great way to provide competition while also enjoying the fellowship of the other riders. Rallies are a great way for the scooter enthusiast to meet each other and enjoy their sport.
